  Later this summer, Westchase District will move forward with the largest capital improvement project it has ever undertaken: a $20 million reconstruction of the section of Walnut Bend Lane that runs from Westpark Drive to Westheimer Road. Workers will reconstruct nearly 6,000 feet of roadway, construct enhanced sidewalks and upgrade underground public utility lines. BEFORE: November 2018 Crews have finalized the latest landscaping improvements along the northbound and southbound slopes adjacent to the West Sam Houston Tollway frontage roads between Richmond Avenue and Westpark Drive. The “Community Change Micro Grant” awarded to the Westchase District Community Fund was one of only 20 grants extended to local organizations for 2019 and the only grant awarded in Texas. Woodchase Park is becoming a reality! Recently, Westchase District General Manager Jim Murphy (above, left) inspected the site with Ali Choudhri, president of Jetall Companies. Choudhri sold the parcel to the City of Houston, which purchased the property on behalf of the District. Art students from Elsik High School in the Alief Independent School District have been studying the concept of sacred geometry and recently turned their own geometry designs into mosaic tiles that are incorporated into concrete seat walls along Westchase District’s Brays Bayou Connector Trail.
