A new destination park is under construction in Westchase District. Camden Park is on a 3.4-acre parcel of land, located at 2951 Wilcrest Drive, and will be Westchase District’s largest park and a destination for all of west Houston when it opens in 2025. It will feature a 16,000-square-foot activity lawn with a multi-purpose pavilion for free concerts and cultural performances, a children’s play area, enclosed dog park (one for small pups and one for larger dogs), and on-site restaurant, plus a covered sky terrace with outdoor seating and sweeping views of the entire park. The park will offer an outdoor reading room with books, exercise stations, space for food trucks and farmers market vendors, plus restrooms.
Construction continues as this aerial view of Camden Park shows progress on the food and beverage pavilion, which will be the home of the onsite restaurant, Sunday Press. Sunday Press, will be patterned after a similar concept in Oak Forest. The restaurant will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner — offering counter-service with a menu designed to appeal to those living and working nearby. They curate healthy food options, fresh baked goods, daily brunch and house-made syrups for a full coffee experience.
There will be air-conditioned, indoor seating at Sunday Press, in addition to outdoor seating. Sunday Press will offer a wine and beer menu, allowing adults to take their food and beverages upstairs to the covered sky terrace.
In addition, concrete has been poured for the trail that will connect Camden Park to HCC Campus Trail via a mid-block crossing. The mid-block crossing is already visible on Wilcrest and will feature a pedestrian-activated signal, which will allow pedestrians to safely cross the street. While onsite parking is limited at Camden Park, Westchase District has negotiated additional parking at the office buildings located immediately across Wilcrest.
Surface parking lots at 3000 Wilcrest, 3100 Wilcrest and 3200 Wilcrest will be available, thanks to agreements with the owners of those office buildings. The crossing has also been enhanced by landscaping and colorful bollards, similar to those installed on the Elmside/Woodchase Path near Sneed Elementary School. This will offer further safety protection to pedestrians crossing the street to access Camden Park or to connect to the Library Loop Trail and the HCC Campus Trail.
