Corporate Challenge is Celebrated in 25th anniversary style

2023 marks 25th annual “field day for adults”

The first Corporate Challenge was a small event in 1998. Just a handful of teams participated in a half-day competition at Quillian Center and $1,056 was generated for charity. Fast forward 25 years and the event now draws more than 300 competitors each year in a day-log competition that generates thousands for charity. 

Thanks to Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam who are Title Sponsors of the event again this year. This Westchase District-based engineering firm has supported this event for more than five years as Title Sponsor and competitor.

“We love being part of this event,” said Ricky Gonzalez, team leader at LAN. “Since our office is located within Westchase District, we feel a real pride in our community and in being part of Westchase District activities. Beyond that, we’re also pretty competitive, so it’s fun to just come out here and be one of the many businesses competing for prizes.”

Spring event returns

The 2023 Corporate Challenge brought 30 teams together in friendly competition. Competitors participated in six different athletic events — Rugby, Dodgeball, NBA Around the World, Soccer Kick, Briefcase Relay and Kickball. The top team in each event and the top three overall teams will be announced at an award program on Wednesday, May 3 at the Houston Marriott Westchase.

Summer Camp and Charitable Support

Since 1998, the Westchase District’s Corporate Challenge has raised more than $306,000 for area charities. The money is distributed by the Westchase District Community Fund, which will announce a contribution to Quillian Center summer camps at the upcoming award program. “We are grateful to those sponsors who step up each year for this event,” said Craig Eichhorn, chairman of the Westchase District Community Fund.
