Weather was perfect, some new events kept things interesting and a good time was had by all at the 2017 Westchase District Corporate Challenge last Friday. Celebrating no serious athletics just serious fun, about 300 competitors, staff and volunteers participated in the challenge, which has taken place for 20 years at Quillian Recreation Center.
“We’ve been trying to convince our management to let us participate for years,” said Diana Brown with Harvey Builders. “It was worth the wait. I was surprised by how quickly we were able to fill three teams. We had a mix of people from our office as well as workers from our various construction job sites. It gave us a chance to get out of the office and do some team building that wasn’t project specific and build camaraderie among some of our employees who would not typically spend much time together face to face.”
Westchase Forest Apartments is located in Westchase District, but parent company Olympus Property brought in executives from Fort Worth to participate in the challenge. “We were bummed that we didn’t make it last year,” said Jeff Barber with Olympus. “With more than 700 residents in Westchase District, we feel it’s important to be involved in the area we serve. Plus we love the fundraising aspect of the challenge. It is, hands down, our favorite community building event of the year.”
“My team and I had such a blast,” said Janie Diaz with EHRA Engineering. “It was a great day.”
“We truly enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait for next year,” said Natasha Tillman with Premier America Credit Union.
Winners of each event, as well as the overall winner, will be announced at the awards luncheon ceremony Monday, April 24 at the Houston Marriott Westchase. Thanks again to our title sponsor, Amegy Bank, as well as to all of our major sponsors and event hosts.
